The Story Behind Project Felix
Rainbow Bridges was born from love — and loss. In 2020, I saw a foster post from The Rabbit Haven and knew it was time to open my heart again. I chose Felix, Caroline, and Peach — three senior guinea pigs who needed the most help — over an easier pair of babies. They arrived on Pi Day, March 14, 2020, and never left, becoming my Pigtrio.
Felix greeted me at the cage wall every night for his pellets. Caroline kept our little household running with her calm, steady presence. Peach rearranged her fleece pillows just so and hid in the hay bag like it was her own private suite. I lost Felix in 2021, Caroline in 2022, and Peach soon after. It hurt three times, in three different ways — because I loved them so much, and each loss took something different from me.

Social media felt too noisy. A simple photo album felt too flat. What was needed was something beautiful, permanent, and personal — a space where you could visit your pet’s memorial whenever you needed to feel close to them again.
The idea for Rainbow Bridges began in 2021, after Felix crossed the rainbow bridge. I collected artwork, dreamed of a peaceful garden for beloved pets, and held onto the hope of creating something meaningful. But life moved in its own rhythm, and the project rested quietly for a while.
In 2026, with the help of modern tools and a renewed sense of purpose, I was finally able to bring this vision to life. Rainbow Bridges continues to grow, shaped with love for every companion who has ever been cherished.
That’s Rainbow Bridges: a living memorial garden in the clouds, where the season changes with the real world, where visitors can leave tributes and flowers, and where the memory of every pet is treated with the dignity it deserves.

Built With Love
Rainbow Bridges is an independent project built by me, Danielle, a pet parent for pet parents. It isn’t supported by venture capital or advertising. It exists because the memorial experience I longed for didn’t yet exist — so I built it with love and intention.
